Non-Returnable Products on Amazon, Flipkart and Meesho: Category Guide for India (2026)

Research checked: 20 October 2026
Scope: Indian marketplaces. Category examples are a reference, not a guarantee that every listing has the same policy.
Online sellers often search for non-returnable products to reduce returns and protect margins. Buyers search for the same information to understand what happens if a purchase does not meet their expectations.
The challenge is that Amazon India, Flipkart and Meesho do not publish identical rules or organise their policies in the same way. A product can be non-returnable on one marketplace and eligible for replacement, exchange or refund on another.
This guide separates published category information from rules that must be checked on individual listings. It covers all 21 groups on Flipkart’s published no-return list, Amazon India categories identified in official seller guidance, and Meesho’s publicly documented approach. It does not claim an exhaustive, permanently valid list of every non-returnable SKU across the three platforms.

What does non-returnable mean?
For this guide, distinguish four different outcomes:
| Term | What to look for |
|---|---|
| Non-returnable | Restrictions on sending a product back; read any exceptions |
| Replacement only | A replacement may be offered for an eligible problem |
| Exchange | An alternative unit or variant may be available under stated conditions |
| Refund | Money may be returned, with or without a physical pickup, depending on the policy |
Do not interpret these labels as interchangeable. For example, a replacement-only listing does not promise a refund because a buyer changed their mind. Equally, a no-return label should not be interpreted as proof that there is no process for reporting an incorrect delivery.
Amazon India: non-returnable categories
Amazon’s main India returns page could not be retrieved during this research. The following is a condensed summary of official Amazon India seller-forum guidance, rather than a verified reproduction of the full policy table.

A separate Amazon representative also identifies cleaning products, pet food, grooming products, fertilisers and wax candles as examples: official seller response.
Important Amazon qualifications
The category guidance is not a substitute for an ASIN’s displayed policy. The representative also distinguishes selected sports-nutrition products from other supplements. Avoid labelling every health product identically. The response recognises remedies for damaged, defective or wrong deliveries and advises sellers to seek correction where catalogue classification produces an incorrect return label.
For further verification, consult Amazon India’s returns policy and the actual product page.
What about groceries, gift cards and personalised products?
These are often included in third-party lists, including the SeekhoBecho article. However, that article is not Amazon’s policy. Its broader claims about groceries, hazardous goods, gift cards and personalised products were not independently verified against the current India policy page in this research. Check the relevant product or programme terms before treating them as confirmed India-wide categories.
Likewise, missing packaging or an expired return window is a condition affecting a claim—not a product category sellers can source.
Flipkart: all 21 published no-return category groups
The table below includes every group on Flipkart’s official no-return page, with selected examples rather than its entire product inventory.
| Category | Examples |
|---|---|
| Auto accessories | Polish, stickers |
| Automobiles | Cars, motorcycles |
| Bath and spa | Soap, loofahs |
| Baby care | Diapers, wipes |
| Cleaning products | Detergents |
| Computer/mobile accessories/electronics | Screen guards, RAM |
| Food and nutrition | Condiments, drinks |
| Fashion | Socks, shapewear |
| Footwear accessories | Shoe polish |
| Gardening products | Seeds, manure |
| Health care | Dressings, lancets |
| Home products | Adhesives, napkins |
| Hygiene | Tissues, tampons |
| Innerwear | Briefs, trunks |
| Jewellery | Coins |
| Music instrument accessories | Mouthpieces, oils |
| Party supplies | Balloons, candles |
| Festive supplies | Incense, rangoli colours |
| Personal care | Bindi, lipstick |
| Pet supplies | Treats, waste bags |
| Sexual wellness | Condoms, pregnancy kits |
These headings do not make their entire departments non-returnable. In particular, the jewellery entry specifies coins, not all necklaces or earrings. The individual listing’s terms govern. See Flipkart’s general returns policy for replacement and other conditions, including separate hyperlocal rules.
Meesho: listing-based restrictions, not a verified blanket category list
Meesho’s official returns, refunds and replacement policy identifies the product page as the place to check returnability. The reviewed policy does not provide a comprehensive category table comparable to Flipkart’s.
It describes these arrangements:
- Listings explicitly marked non-returnable, with exchanges subject to applicable conditions.
- Eligible listings offering returns for wrong, defective, damaged or incomplete deliveries.
- Selected listings offering broader return reasons through an additional paid option.
- Smartphones with a separate replacement/service process rather than ordinary return-and-refund eligibility. Dead-on-arrival claims require a brand certificate and an uninterrupted unboxing video; physical delivery damage requires video evidence. Replacement requests are subject to verification and a seven-day deadline.
Consequently, claims that all Meesho beauty, innerwear, food, hygiene or customised products are non-returnable cannot be confirmed from this policy alone. Verify each catalogue instead of applying another marketplace’s category list.
Comparing the three marketplaces
The strongest comparison is about evidence, rather than assuming the same products have identical rules everywhere.
| Marketplace | Evidence available in this research | How to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Amazon India | Official representative guidance; main policy page unavailable | Treat categories as a starting point and verify the ASIN |
| Flipkart | Dedicated published list covering 21 groups | Match the specific product, then check listing terms |
| Meesho | Listing-based policy and specific smartphone provisions | Verify the catalogue and available return option |
How sellers should research a product before buying stock
The following is a suggested business workflow, not an additional marketplace rule.
1. Define the exact product
“Personal care” is too broad for a sourcing decision. Record the actual item, pack size, material, intended use and whether it is consumable. A bindi pack, an electric grooming device and a bottle of shampoo should be researched separately.
2. Create a policy evidence sheet
For every proposed SKU, record:
- Marketplace and product URL.
- ASIN, listing ID or catalogue identifier.
- Category and subcategory.
- Displayed return, refund, exchange or replacement wording.
- Applicable claim window and evidence requirements.
- Date checked and any seller-support case reference.
This makes policy assumptions visible before money is committed to inventory.
3. Resolve mismatches before scaling
If an official category reference and the live listing disagree, ask seller support to confirm the correct treatment. Keep the answer with the product record. Do not choose an inaccurate category simply to obtain a more favourable return label.
4. Calculate the whole order margin
Use a working calculation such as:
Expected contribution = selling revenue − product cost − packaging − marketplace charges − fulfilment costs − advertising − expected claim and failed-delivery costs.
Non-returnable status should be one input in product selection. Also assess breakage, leakage, shelf life, repeat demand, shipping weight and supplier consistency. A compact product with reliable quality can be easier to operate than a fragile product carrying the same return label.
5. Pilot a small assortment
Start with a manageable number of SKUs. Review customer questions, delivery problems and actual contribution before increasing stock. Product descriptions should state dimensions, quantities and included components accurately; photographs should represent the item being shipped.
Common questions
Is there one universal non-returnable list for all three platforms?
No universal list was established by the reviewed sources. Research the marketplaces separately and retain listing-level evidence.
Are all products within a listed category non-returnable?
Do not make that assumption. A category heading helps locate products; it does not replace the product’s own terms. Flipkart’s coins-only jewellery entry is a useful example of why this distinction matters.
Does non-returnable mean guaranteed profit?
No. Sourcing cost, advertising, fulfilment, packaging and customer claims still affect the economics. Treat claims of guaranteed margins or zero-loss selling as assumptions requiring evidence.
Can sellers independently promise a no-return policy?
Do not assume a sentence in the description changes marketplace eligibility. Confirm the classification and platform-approved policy for the actual listing.
Are electronics all non-returnable?
Avoid that blanket claim. Read whether the listing provides replacement, brand service, repair or another resolution. These arrangements are different from an unrestricted refund policy.
How often should a seller recheck policies?
A practical approach is to recheck before launching a SKU, before a substantial reorder and whenever a platform notification or listing change affects the product. Keep the article’s research date visible and update it when sources change.
